Image Description:
In fig. 78 is illustrated a screw machine clutch die-holder, the shank of which is inserted in one of the turret holes. The die, shown in the middle, is inserted in the holder and is secured by means of the binding screw, which bears upon flats on the die shank. Upon the projecting portion of the die is placed the clamping band, shown at the left of the illustration. By tightening this clamp, the jaws of the die are sprung inwards, and in this simple way the diameter of the screws produced can be slightly varied. The holder is self-releasing, and is provided with a clutch mechanism, which prevents any hard shock or jar on the threads when the tools are released.
