Image Description:
The engravings on the two preceding pages are illustrations of the high pressure Corliss Engine manufactured by C. & G.Cooper & Co., and the engravings on this page are those of their Tandem Compound and Vertical Condensing Engines. The single engine is built from 25 to 2,000 horse-power.
The Compound Corliss Engines and Vertical Condensing Engines are made in all sizes from 150 to 3,000 horse-power. Great care has been taken in designing these engines to give ample proportions for strength and wearing-surfaces, and at the same time combine graceful outlines.
The valve-gear is of the most simple construction, with the quickest possible closure, always securing the highest economy and correct regulation. The receivers in the Compound Engines are placed above or below the floor, as may be preferred; and the air pumps made to work independently or driven from crank-pin of engine.
These engines are also made of special proportions, and heavy-weight fly-wheels furnished for electric light and street-railway plants. (Manufactured by C. & G. Cooper & Co., Mt. Vernon, Ohio.)
